Flooding and standing water problems? A French drain might be your solution!
A french drain — sounds sophisticated, doesn’t it? Don’t let it’s name fool you! A french drain is simply a strategically placed and pitched ditch in the ground, filled with a layer of gravel over a perforated pipe.
As we are on day four of around-the-clock autumn rain showers in southern Wisconsin, it seems to be an excellent time to introduce french drains. French drains help stormwater to flow away from where you don’t want it (your home, or other low points on your property) and towards a more favorable location (such as the municipal storm drain).
Though quite a simple mechanism, french drains can be the solution to severe water drainage issues, such as water pooling on your property, or worse: water pooling in your home. If you are finding standing water in undesirable places after a moderate to heavy rain, the french drain is for you. Installing a french drain can spare you flooding (and mold) damage, undesirable insurance negotiations, and ultimately sky high bills to repair water (and mold) damage that could have so easily been avoided.
Our team is always ready to help, though we recommend a proactive, preventative approach when it comes to stormwater management. Perhaps your home is new to you, or perhaps your property has experienced some erosion and you are unsure how it will manage this fall’s rainy season and winters slushy snowfalls. We encourage you to reach out to our team and spare yourself the nightmare of mishandled stormwater.
